Do you eat?\u00a0 Then you ought to try and put a seed in the dirt and see what happens.\u00a0 Good morning.\u00a0 Gardening is such a wonderful hobby I hope you will consider it. \u00a0Does it seem like the only people that garden are those that learned as children or grew up on a farm?\u00a0 There are many wonderful aspects to gardening as a hobby, but my favorite is that there is no wrong way to garden, so get started.\u00a0 If you are outside, you are doing it!\u00a0 Whatever works for you is right, do something and see what happens.\u00a0 Observe and learn.\u00a0 Ok, Lisa, fine.\u00a0 But where do I start.\u00a0 Well, at this time of year in Houston, TX, I recommend putting a garlic clove in the ground.\u00a0 This is a subset of gardening that I call grocery store gardening.\u00a0 That is where you take an item from the grocery store and grow it at home.\u00a0 The best item to start with is garlic.\u00a0 Just grab the largest best looking clove of garlic off of your counter and stick it 5 inches down in the dirt.\u00a0\u00a0 It is that simple.\u00a0\u00a0 If you want to do more than one, plant them 6 inches apart.\u00a0 We have had such luck with garlic that planting, harvesting, and eating are a part of our family tradition.\u00a0\u00a0 You can see how our bed is doing below- garlic just sprouted – stay tuned to see how the bed grows.<\/p>\n
