{"id":121,"date":"2017-01-23T12:16:01","date_gmt":"2017-01-23T12:16:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.okragardensupply.com\/blog\/?p=121"},"modified":"2017-01-23T12:16:01","modified_gmt":"2017-01-23T12:16:01","slug":"why-is-the-store-named-okra-garden-supply","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.okragardensupply.com\/learn\/why-is-the-store-named-okra-garden-supply\/","title":{"rendered":"Why is the store named Okra Garden Supply?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Why did I name my little store Okra Garden Supply?\u00a0 The Okra flower is the reason.\u00a0 The Okra plant has so many things that to love, however, it was an easy choice.\u00a0 Plus it is a short, unique work.\u00a0 Maybe you found us (me) on the internet?\u00a0 Maybe that was because so few listings start with \u201cOkra\u201d.\u00a0 Okra is easy to spell &#8211; another huge plus for me.<\/p>\n<p>Today, in the middle of winter, I will wax on about Okra a bit.<\/p>\n<p>Okra can take the heat.\u00a0 If there is one thing more exhausting than Houston, TX heat in the summer it is listening to everyone complain about the heat.\u00a0 Yes, people, it is hot.\u00a0 But you don\u2019t get no lip from the Okra.\u00a0 It just stands in the heat and grows, grows, grows, almost before your eyes.<\/p>\n<p>Okra can take the ants.\u00a0 My Okra usually have ants and other insects crawling on them, does it bother the plant?\u00a0 No.\u00a0 What an inspiration.<\/p>\n<p>Okra produces.\u00a0 Okra is not a tomato.\u00a0 The tomato must be the princess of the garden.\u00a0 High maintenance, universally coveted, and almost always spoiled.\u00a0 The Okra just continually produces, each plant giving a tasty pod every few days like clockwork.\u00a0 It isn\u2019t garden aristocracy, it is working class. \u00a0Just like us.\u00a0 (If you aren\u2019t working class, please buy something from my store, you can afford it!)<\/p>\n<p>Okra tastes fine.\u00a0 Am I going to tell you that Okra is the finest tasting veggi that you can just pluck from the earth and enjoy, like a snap pea or a carrot? \u00a0No.\u00a0 Okra takes a little effort in the kitchen, but it will feed you.\u00a0 If you want to eat in the summer, plant an Okra.<\/p>\n<p>Okra will provide, if you give it a chance.\u00a0 Plant some Okra seeds today and see how they grow.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-medium\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.okragardensupply.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/okra_and_pod-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-765\"\/><figcaption>The okra flower blossom and pod.
