This photo shows ants responding to DIATOMS. DIATOMS is made of very small glass particles that damage the body of the ants. As the most exposed ants begin to perish and become immobile the other ants start to cluster around them and balls are formed.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h1>Ants Are Everywhere \u2013 Just Ignore Them<\/h1>\n<h4>Spring, Texas, USA<\/h4>\n<p>We can live in peace with the ants if we establish boundaries.<\/p>\n<p>The best management method for fire ants is ignorance.\u00a0 Ignore ants.\u00a0 If you live in fire ant country, your ground will be infested with ants.\u00a0 Just accept this reality.\u00a0 But, do not despair.\u00a0 Most ants won\u2019t bother you and you can live in peace with the ants.\u00a0 It is my first and best recommendation.\u00a0 Ignore ants.\u00a0 I am getting better and better at ignoring.\u00a0 It takes presence of mind.\u00a0 I also always wear socks and shoes.<\/p>\n<p>Occasionally, it is true, the industrious ants will set up shop somewhere that is unacceptable.\u00a0 This happened recently to me when fire ants started mounding up just outside my back door.\u00a0 This was just the situation for DIATOMS.\u00a0 I just sprayed the area with about 2 oz of DIATOMS.\u00a0 Activity slowed immediately.\u00a0 Since we were not busy I let the DIATOMS and ants alone for a number of hours.\u00a0 Ant activity did not resume.\u00a0 We were then able to sweep the area without incident.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Link: Apparently this Ant balling behavior is very interesting to me.\u00a0 Ishared this example earlier in the year:\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.okragardensupply.com\/blog\/2017\/02\/17\/diatoms-bother-ants\/\">\u201cDIATOMS bother ants\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ants Are Everywhere \u2013 Just Ignore Them Spring, Texas, USA We can live in peace with the ants if we establish boundaries.
