When I took the photograph of the compost, below, I was standing at the edge of a raised bed. Last season the raised bed was full of yellow pear cherry tomatoes. Occasionally, I wouldn’t harvest in time and the fruit would start to rot on the vine. When that happened I would toss the tomatoes into the compost. My aim is poor. Very poor. In one case a rotten tomato went splat on the wall of the garage. A responsible, tidy person would have cleaned it off right away. But, I am a curious, observant gardener, so I decided to let them be. It appears the tomato fruit dried up and left a number of perfectly plantable seeds. Which I planted, I will keep you posted.
