On this day of love I will continue to describe my relationship with the tiny beast. The bottom line is, we must live with the ant. How do we live in peace?
Let me begin with myself. How do I live with this ant and still enjoy gardening? Instead of trying to beat the ant and chase it completely from my property, I am humble before the ant. I accept its presence and live with it. Living with the ant may require a few precautions depending on how many of their stings you are willing to endure. I fear their sting and so I:
- Always wear socks and shoes when outdoors in Fire ant country
- Keep a keen eye for piles. They are easy to spot if you are aware.
- Wear gloves when working outside
- Use Diatoms to control piles that pop up where they don’t belong.
